Housing for Torque Sensor

A torque sensor is a device for measuring the torque on an engine crankshaft. The torque sensor tells the electronic control unit how much effort the driver is applying to the wheel. This in turn reflects the amount of power the engine is generating or consuming. By measuring the torque, one can increase the level of passenger comfort and safety while simultaneously reducing fuel consumption.

Product Description

Torque sensors are piezo-electrical systems and require special protection because they are used directly on the component that is being measured. These sensors should be encased in glass-metal housing components in order to ensure optimum results.

Product Advantages

Our glass-to-metal sealed housing components can be adapted directly to customer requirements, and all models offer a high level of reliability and a long service life. The housing seal is also fully hermetic and capable of withstanding even the most difficult environmental conditions.

Applications

Torque sensors can be installed in up to 15 different places at once within a vehicle to effectively measure the torque. In a four-wheel drive, for example, torque sensors are directly connected to the components to be measured, such as the camshaft, axes, crankshaft, drive shaft and the wheels.

Technology

To ensure the reliable hermeticity of these housing components, glass-to-metal sealing technology is used. Please click on this page for more information.

The materials used are dependent on the area of application, including corrosion-resistant types of glass and metal.
