Housing for Humidity Sensor

Housings For Humidity Sensors

Humidity sensors (or hygrometers) are used to measure the vapor content in the air. In automotive applications, the most common types are absorption hygrometers. These types of hygrometers contain a hygroscopic material (a material that retains water)that changes its characteristic when exposed to different levels of humidity.

Product Description

The sensors are enclosed in a hermetically sealed housing component to protect them from harmful environmental influences. At the same time, the sensors must still be able to access the ambient air so as to measure the vapor content. This is achieved through small shafts or open caps that can be adapted according to customer requirements.

Product Advantages

The humidity sensor housing components are based on standard transistor outline (TO) series and can therefore be easily manufactured in large quantities. All housing component designs can be adapted to individual customer requirements.

Applications

In vehicles, humidity sensors are only used in the passenger compartment to support the air conditioning system or for operating anti-condensation systems. Humidity sensors are also used in a wide range of industrial applications.

Technology

Glass-to-metal sealing technology is used to ensure hermeticity of the housing component. The type of glass and metal used differs depending on the customer’s requirements. Additionally nickel and/or gold plating in compliance with the latest automotive industry standards are applied. Please click on this page for information about our glass-to-metal sealing technology.
